The Final Straw

OK, so some people have been after me forever to start a blog. I kept telling them, "Maybe one of these days." Well, "one of these days" is here, thanks to Byron at Burnt Orange Report.

I could've let go the intellectually empty comparison between a talk show host and the "[d]amn liberal media." I mean, I used to expect people to be able to grasp the fundamental difference between a talk show host who makes no secret of his ideology when he presents materal with a particular slant and a purportedly neutral media outlet when it presents its material with a particular slant, or leaves out material which doesn't fit with that slant, but tries to keep its ideology hidden. Obviously, the distinction between a program which clearly is not meant to be objective, and isn't, and a program which purports to be objective, and isn't, is lost on Byron.

But, hey, fuzzy thinking like that is all over the place. I can live with that. However, the last straw, the reason I just couldn't let this particular bit of wrongheadedness go by, is that he calls his blog Burnt Orange Report and then has a header color which is closer to Oklahoma State Halloween, Deer Hunter orange than burnt orange. That's just unacceptable.
